Writing Journey #20- No More Drawing

I DECIDED NOT TO DRAW. Anymore. No more drawing, for me. It’s a New Years’ resolution for 2020 that I have adhered to pretty diligently. At least for the last few months. I also decided to take a step back from social media, which is why I have been pretty quiet during 2020. I even tried sketching a bit and I just don’t care to anymore. My focus has shifted away from art and I’m a lot happier with the decision. OH, and have you noticed that this is Writing Journey #20, in the year 2020?! Yeah, it blew my mind! Not planned. This is destiny!

THE REASON I DECIDED not to draw anymore is because I want to concentrate on writing. That’s it. I want to finish my story. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that over the years I have dabbled in a lot of things. Too many things! Animating. Comics. Let’s Plays. Vlogs. And of course, artwork for my characters and story. But through it all, I always came back to my main focus: I just want to write. So that’s what I’m doing.

I’M RUNNING OUT OF TIME. Life is short. We only have a small window of opportunity for what we hope to accomplish. Everyone has a dream that they want to see become a reality. I’ve been spending the better part of my entire 39 years of life dedicated to finishing a story. It’s been sitting in my head forever, and I always tell people, “It’s almost done.” I’m tired of saying almost. I’m tired of how long it’s taken. And honestly, I’m tired of everything in general. So it’s time to step up and finish it.

THE BOOK IS DONE! At least, the first one in the series. I spent the last few months reading and polishing what I call Hand of Rel: One Wish. I’m starting to write and query publishers and agents. That’s the next step. And while I wait for a reply? I will continue to write the rest of the books and write short stories here on HandofRel.com, and on Wattpad. To have fun and expand on the universe. The rest of the books are underway, and I want to finish at least one more and publish One Wish. Or at least have it picked up, in some shape or form. That’s the plan. That’s the goal. My end game.

I plan to let a select few of the special people in my life see what I’ve been working on. I don’t know if I’ll be here, or if they’ll be here when the book finally comes out. So in the unfortunate event that I go first, or they do, I want to share what I’ve written. Because I am damn proud of it!

I’VE COMMISSIONED AN ARTIST. I still plan to write short stories for fun here on Hand of Rel, but I would like artwork and character bios to go along with what I write. So as of right now, I am working with the very talented artist, NatNat! Please check out her work @natnatdrawsinsta on Instagram and give it some support. I freaking adore her style! She has done a few character pieces already (one of which is the header of this blog post) and I love how she has captured my characters, better than I could! If I didn’t have bills and life to deal with, I would commission everything from her right now 😛

SO HERE’S TO 2020! This is the year that I write and finish my story. One is already done. The rest are drafted and underway. Let’s do this!
