Inktober 2019 Day 1: Level 1- Daily Doodle
INKTOBER 2019 DAY 1: Level 1! This is Rel Rel at level 1, if you didn’t get that from the title. In Dragon Ball Z terms, her base form. Powerless. OG status! This year I’m using the #caitober prompts from the amazing artist, @limetown! I thought it’d be a nice exercise, exploring Rel Rel and the rest of the story.

HERE’S THE ORIGINAL SKETCH:
HERE’S THE FINISHED VERSION. I added an eye blink and a subtle swing of her controller. Now, I say that the controller, dubbed here as the “Controller Mace”, is her main weapon. However, it isn’t something that I really incorporate into the book, though. I did it just for Inktober, since Rel doesn’t begin with any kind of weapon.

THIS DAY ONE PROMPT really got me thinking. I’ve been planning and setting this story up for a long time. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know it’s been too long! But as long as I finish that’s all that matters. But, back to the topic at hand. This prompt, alone, made me realize that I don’t know what Rel Rel fights with? In all of my planning I never fleshed out her fighting style, or what type of weapon she favors. Is she close quarters or ranged? Mage? Cleric? Tank? Knight? What! So with that, this has already been a nice development tool for the overall story. Does she fight with a controller? No. But it would be cool to incorporate that?
FUN FACT about this particular piece of artwork: I showed this to my daughter, and she said that she loves it! But she had to ask, “Daddy, what’s that matter with her pants? She needs a belt. Because her pants are falling. Daddy, how come her pants are falling off?”
