Misfit Toys Christmas Collab- Daily Doodle

MY ARTIST FRIEND TheArgoNinja has holiday art collaborations every year. I’ve done a few and they’re always good times! This year he’s having a Christmas Collab where you draw your original character as a toy. Of course, I drew Rel Rel! This is her as a marionette.

HERE’S THE INITIAL DESIGN. I wasn’t very happy with it, so I moved on to a totally different pose. But it started with this!

I LOVE PUPPETS! Absolutely love them. My appreciation started when I played Nights into Dreams. It’s become a life long obsession. This marionette Rel Rel design is based on an original concept for the big bads that she faces later in the story, called the Puppet Masters. The costume has changed, so I wanted to use it since I’ve always liked the design. Which, if you can’t really tell, is based off of Nights and Reala from Nights into Dreams. Strings I tell you! Got to love them. Anywho, I may use this as Rel Rel’s final form, as you can see that the colors and design are also based on her First Form transformation uniform.

MUSIC IS A PRIME SOURCE of inspiration! I use it to focus, get my head in the zone, and allows my imagination to conjure up ideas, based on the tone of the music. I love doing that while I write and draw! Here’s what I was listening to while drawing and finishing up marionette Rel Rel. I mean, how can you go wrong with dark circus music? Also, because of Nights into Dreams, this type of music gets me so amped! How about you?
