Writing Journey #21- Art in 2020

THE PLAN WAS NOT TO DRAW in 2020. But with the latest state of the entire world, I need to make a change in plans. My initial idea was to commission the talented NatNatDraws to create all of the artwork for my characters and stories. I would still love to! But right now, we’re financially struggling. As I know most are, at the moment. Things are crazy! So, unfortunately, I can’t pay for any more commissions. And from the looks of things, I won’t be able to for a while.

I DO HAVE A LOT OF EXTRA time on my hands. Although truth be told, I had a lot of time on my hands, to begin with! Introvert and all, so I spent a lot of time indoors. I guess this just adds a greater sense of urgency to create and finish my stories. I’ve always felt like I was running out of time, never knowing when the end would come. And with the world slowly growing crazier, the idea of running out of time has a whole new meaning.

I HAD NO DESIRE TO DRAW when I made my New Year’s resolution to step back and just write. And when the Covid-19 outbreak first became serious in early March 2020, I stopped altogether. I had just finished writing Hand of Rel: One Wish, so maybe I was burnt out? In any case, I haven’t been able to write or draw anything. The spark was just gone. I attribute that to being extremely overwhelmed by the situation, while reading the news, following Twitter, and watching the number of cases grow each day, snuffed out all of my creative inspiration. Until the other day…

I WILL HAVE ART IN 2020! I sat down the other day. I stopped checking the spread of the Covid virus. I stopped listening to the news. I tried to think of artwork that I still needed to finish. And for the past few days, I have been on a roll! I drew some art digitally for the first time in a while. I’m having a lot of fun with it! Thus, I will have some artwork ready to go, soon. More writing. More sketches. More creativity.

SO HERE’S TO THE REST 2020! This is the year that I write and finish my story. One is already done. The rest are drafted and underway. Let’s do this!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading! I’ll be back with another entry next time. Stay creative and go make something! Tell the world your story, in the way that only you can. Please take care and God bless. Stay safe. Say I love you. Social distance and wash your hands. Cheers!
